Portfolio Website Deployment
Developed and deployed a full-stack Django portfolio website on AWS EC2 with production-grade infrastructure, implementing Nginx reverse proxy, Gunicorn WSGI server, and automated service management on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
- Configured AWS EC2 t2.micro instance with Ubuntu 24.04, establishing SSH key-based authentication, security group rules for HTTP/HTTPS traffic, and network configuration for consistent public access
- Built production environment with Nginx as reverse proxy and Gunicorn (3 workers) as WSGI application server, creating systemd service files for automatic startup and managing Unix socket communication
- Migrated SQLite database and media files from local development to production EC2, implementing proper file permissions (chmod/chown) and configuring static asset serving via Nginx
- Debugged deployment challenges including virtual environment path conflicts, socket permission errors (502 Bad Gateway), and service dependencies through systemd and Nginx log analysis
- Deployed on AWS Free Tier (750 hours/month EC2, 30GB storage) for zero-cost hosting with admin panel, dynamic content rendering, and contact forms
